My husband and kids are car geeks. Even my college age daughter is one of them. If they aren’t talking about zombies their talking about cars! Luckily, I haven’t joined the dark side just yet, but I do enjoy a nice car to get me to where I need to go.
Neither my husband or I have ever owned a brand new car. I hate to admit it, but until last year, our kid’s cars were the newest things parked in the driveway. Now, actually my husband has the newest car we own and it’s 10 years old. We have been talking lately about the kind of cars we have driven in the past and what we may looking to own in the future. We have been saving towards a new to us car for several months now and may need to take the plunge sooner than later. As usual the whole conversation got blown out of proportion and turned into a “discussion” about cars that we grew up with , dream cars and out of this world priced cars. If it was up to our kids we would be paying more for our car than our mortgage.
My husband started reminiscing about his teenage years and all the cars his friends and neighbors drove over the years and some of the “stunts” they pulled with them. Some of his stories really shouldn’t be shared with kids, it puts ideas in their heads that may prove to be detrimental to their health and my sanity!ย A few of the cars mentioned were like a foreign language to me. Pacer, Opel, Pinto Station Wagon and Gremlin (one I actually knew.)
I sometimes wonder how my husband survived before he met me! I hope our kids don’t take his stories as advice and try to follow in his foot steps.ย Does your significant other every tell stories to your kids that make you shake your head? I would love to hear what kind of things your family is passionate about!

Mine is more like yours, and the kids too. But not the zombie part. Everyone in my family is obsessed with cars. If you want to know the latest car models that are out in the market the best place to get that will be my family.
Michele says
thanks Kristen! Car talk is the norm around here, I am getting used to it and learning some stuff too!

There are a lot of stories that I would not share with the kids. I certainly don’t want to give them any bad ideas. ๐
Michele says
Thanks Angela! I don’t share, but it’s hard to keep the hubby quiet!!

Our kids aren’t old enough where they would be shaking their heads at our stories, but I know that’s not far away. ๐
Anne says

Michele says

I’ve never really been too into cars – they’re just a way to get from point a to b for me. I have sat around listening to crazy stories from parents while their kids are present and the mom shakes her head. Hopefully if we ever gave kids my bf will keep the stories to himself until the kids are true adults and out of the young and reckless stage ๐
Michele says
Thanks Emily! Sometimes I think our adult kids are worse!! LOL
