Patricia Shultz’s bestselling 1,000 Places to See Before You Die has recently been re-released in the form of a full-color second edition. The book, which has spawned a number of knock-offs, is so much more than just a simple travel guide. Each entry not only tells the reader why the place should be visited but also the pertinent information such as websites, phone numbers and the best time to place a visit. Plus, this new version includes 200 additional pages covering 28 new countries. The book covers everything from the Great Mosque in Mali to the Denali National Park in Alaska.
My husband and I had a great time reading through this book on a recent camping trip. We took the time to take a few notes about places that wouldn’t be too far for us to travel by car. Since, are children are older, travel is one activity that we want to start to focus on more than we have in the past.
Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania & Delaware sounded just wonderful, so it made it to the top of our list. The book listed museums, hotels, restaurants and gardens to check into while on the trip. The book shares the history of each area it highlights, that part hooked my husband in. He is a huge history buff and I had to pry the book from him, so I could get a chance to read it too!
All of the websites, phone #’s and contact info was also provided, so our trip can be planned before we hit the road. I like to know what to expect on a trip. I am not fond of surprises, so 1,000 Places to See Before You Die is perfect for my organizing and planning the trip day by day.
We even made a list of places that we could never travel by car. I think the travel bug has really started biting us and I can’t wait to plan more places to visit and explore, thanks to 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.
If there is a place you want to go, I am pretty sure it will be at your finger tips in the book. You can even get an iPad App from the Apple Store here —> iPAD APP 1,000 Place to See Before You Die and have the information you need on the go, too.
This would make a wonderful gift for someone graduating from college, a retiree or even a few empty nesters that just have a huge travel dream. (wonder who that could be?)

I need to get this book. My SO is well traveled, but I am not. This would be a great motivating factor to get us to start planning some trips! Which happens to be our goal this year,
