As part of my day job, I have the pleasure of working with children diagnosed with one or more of the Autism Spectrums up close and personal. It’s such a joy to watch a child flourish and grow, while experiencing life in a classroom setting. Any child tugs on my heart, but seeing the progress an Autistic child can make, is a special joy to experience. One of the biggest frustrations I face as an educator, is the lack of quality information to share with parents and grandparents raising an Autistic child. What a joy to discover Autism United!
Autism United is a champion of the cause! Their resources, articles and activities, on their site are a gold mine for parents, families and educators, too. Raising awareness about Autism and supporting the children, adults and families that experience the ups and downs on a daily basis, is something that everyone needs to rally around.
Autism United offers lots of ways for you to make a difference. You can join their site and help raise awareness about Autism. You can reach out to someone you know that is Autistic or has an Autistic child and be a support system. There are so many ways that you can make difference in the lives of these children and their families. Giving back in any way you can, will warm your heart and soul. It takes a village to raise child and you are part of that village. Autism awareness is something near and dear to my heart and I would love to have you join in and be a champion for Autism awareness.
You can also find Autism United on Facebook. Please check it out, I am sure you will like what they have to offer. Plus, Autism United has partnered with companies, like TOMS to bring you special sales and coupons on their website. It is definitely something worthwhile to experience.
Do you know someone that has been diagnosed with Autism? If so, please share something special about them in the comments on this post. I would love to learn more about how Autism has touched your life or the life of someone you know!

My wonderful son is Autistic. There needs to be more resources and more support! If 1 out of 110 are diagnosed with Autism, why do I feel so alone? There is just not enough support and resources.
Michele says
I totally agree that the resources and support are slim! You are not alone, keep advocating for awareness!
I hope Autism United helps you in some way!
Thanks for sharing about your wonderful son!

Just yesterday I was at a birthday party with a six year old child with autism. I don’t see him much, and for me its very difficult to understand what he is saying when he speaks. We were in my brothers garage where he found a rope that was SUPER knotted into this huge tangle. He sat down and started untangling it and was just SO intent on it and after probably 20 minutes he finally got it undone. We were so impressed- my brother said it had been tied up for months and that a few times he’d picked it up to try and untangle it but even as an adult he would get frustrated and give up. So it was neat.

Thanks Emily! Sometimes it is hard to understand the complications Autism causes a child to endure. I am glad you and your family had the chance to see the boy in a new light.
Take Care!
