I work full time and I have a second job, then I do my blog and resale items on the side, so my time is precious to me. Lots of weeks, I don’t get to the grocery store or CVS to use my coupons for deals until Saturday. Since I am shopping on the last day of the sale, guess what? A lot of times, things I have coupons for, are already out of stock. Sometimes, I can use this to my advantage and other times, its just a pain.
No matter, what store I happen to be in, I always go to customer service and ask for a raincheck.
My local grocery store, Weis Market, glady gives rainchecks, but they do expire 30 days after issue date, so I have to keep my eye on dates. I have been told that some CVS stores, don’t give rainchecks, because corporate policy is it’s at the stores discretion. I have gone to 4 or 5 different CVS stores in my travels and every one of them has always given me a raincheck if an item was out of stock. The thing I love about the CVS rainchecks is that there is a place for a code, that give you the Extra Care Bucks when you redeem the raincheck. The cashier types in the code when you buy the item with raincheck redemption and your Extra Care Bucks will automatically print. (Well, at least they should). Another reason, I LOVE the CVS raincheck is that printed on the back of each one,you will read; Redeem at any CVS Location, so no matter which store I happen to be in, if they have the item on their shelf, I can use my raincheck. It also has printed; This Raincheck Does Not Expire. How awesome is that? We just got rid of car that we hadn’t driven for quite some time and when I cleaned out the glove compartment I found a CVS raincheck for mayonaise, buy one get one free. That will definitely come in handy, since when its not on sale, mayonaise is almost $4 a jar, something I don’t buy often, but with picnic season coming up, I will need to have some on hand.
One other good thing ( I think), about shopping at CVS on Saturday, I was there after 7 pm and both sales were working in the cash register. The sale that ended on Saturday 7/28 and the sale that started on 7/29 pricing was coming up when I checked out. I didn’t realize it until I got home and really looked at my receipt. I need to find out, what time the computers update the sale prices, maybe I can hit 2 weeks worth of sales, coupons and ECB’s all at one time.
Do you ask for rainchecks when items are out of stock? Rainchecks are a time and money saver for me, and I always ask for them! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Thanks!

Love it when I get a raincheck and then a Q comes out on the product the next week. At Wags they are great for the food items that are great fillers items. Especially great for a week when I need to burn RRs. I did a 2 part series on rainchecks and how they can benefit us a couple of months ago.
