Do you have any do-it-yourself (D-I-Y) gurus in your home? In our house, my husband is the King of D-I-Y projects. I could fill pages with all of the items in our home he has repaired, renewed or replaced over 22 years of marriage. There is one area that comes to mind, that has probably saved us the most money since the beginning of time our relationship and that would be auto repair.
The D-I-Y King takes care of everything from oil changes and tire rotation, to replacing alternators and exhaust systems on all of the autos we own. Most of the King’s skills emanate from hands on experience (He works as an electrician, not a mechanic) Luckily, the King has passed on some of his D-I-Y skills to our son, who is now the Prince of D-I-Y projects. Recently, the King and the Prince, along with two other royal family members, completed the massive project of changing head gaskets, timing belt and more on our daughters 2000 Subaru Legacy. That project alone, probably saved us at least, $1500 if not more.
In the past year or so, both the King and the Prince have started to rely heavily on internet technology to help them with their car repair endeavors. There are lots of sites to choose from, but today I want to focus on a newly discovered site, that’s free and puts lots of auto repair information at your fingertips.
RepairPal has many features and tabs to choose from. One of the areas, we use frequently is Submit Your Questions, This area of the website may help you decipher ways to solve problems that relate to topics such as; check engine light, sensors, minor repairs and more. For major repairs, you can use the Estimate tab to help you compare common prices for certain repairs or maintenance that may be needed for your vehicle. It doesn’t matter if you own a Toyota Camry, Ford truck or Volvo station wagon; you should be able to find the information you need at RepairPal.
There’s an area on the webpage, called Track, where you can create an online log of all repairs and maintenance you have had completed on your vehicle. This is a free service and will be a great resource if you are ever away from home and need access to warranty or repair information.
RepairPal isn’t just for consumers. Auto repair facilities, can register their business in the Directory tab. Consumers can search those businesses by specific areas such as; Chicago auto repair, Syracuse auto repair or Vancouver auto repair, all in one spot. Users also have the capability to rate and comment on the services received from listed businesses.
RepairPal has so much to offer, not just for D-I-Y gurus, it’s a site built to accommodate anyone from newbies to pros. Click here to visit RepairPal , register your personal vehicle and you will be well on your way to becoming a prince or king of the D-I-Y auto repair.
