One of the ways I help myself have a bit of extra Christmas spending money, is to sell some of the things we no longer or need or use. It helps me earn some extra cash and also helps cut down on the clutter in our home.
Last week I really did a thorough cleaning and began to purge some of our junk stuff! I use places like Facebook yard sale groups, eBay, Craigs List and just word of mouth to unload our goods. Just in time for Christmas I have the extra cash and a spic and span house to decorate and entertain for the upcoming holidays.
I am having a hard time getting some of our family members (aka – kids) on board with my purging plan. I am hounding my kids about getting rid of their stuff, too. They have a collection of unused stuff that just has to go! I thought as they got older they wouldn’t want to hang on to so much stuff, but it may be even worse than when they were younger. I have been telling my daughter in college that needs extra money, “sell your iphone“, but she hasn’t moved on the idea. I think if we show her the upcoming spring semester tuition bill, she just may change her mind rather quickly.
Do you have any ideas on how to earn some extra cash from your families belongings? I would love to hear your thoughts!
