Small Moves Can Be Daunting Too!

The thought of moving can be an overwhelming task. Our daughter is getting ready to move to college, but even though it is a small move, I am starting to get anxious about the logistics of getting all of her things from one place to the next.

Ship-smart is a business that offers a multitude of services to help make your small moves a success. I don’t think I have ever considered the magnitude of making a small move until this whole college situation came about. Our family has moved once, from one town to another, and it was a undertaking. It took months of planning to coordinate it all, plus it was exhausting and stressful. I wish that I would have known about alternatives like ShipSmart that could have helped relieve some of the obstacles we faced.

Being able to hire a company that can provide you with all of the shipping materials to pack everything at once would have been a great place to start. I spent hours collecting boxes and wasted a fair share of gas in the process. Most stores in our area, break boxes down for recycling and are reluctant to share them with customers.

Having a company pack, pick-up and deliver our belongings to their new destination would have been a dream come true. We had a nightmare ordeal with the rental truck we used. Flat tire, bad brakes and dirty are the few things that pop up in my mind when I think about that truck.  The company we rented from was unavailable help us, so we fixed the tire and took caution driving. Who needs more stress when you are already at your wits end?

When working with a business, always be sure to get recommendations or referrals from someone you trust. A few people, told us after the fact, that the moving truck rental site we used, was unreliable. It would have been nice to have had that information upfront, not after we were committed.  Websites with reviews and ratings are available for most moving companies.

I think I will start with the  Shipsmart testimonials  and see what I learn.  Even though college is a small move, I may need some back up.  I don’t think its really the moving that has me concerned, as much as “losing” the mover when she goes. If I can get someone else to do the moving, I can enjoy more time with my daughter before she “moves”
